to manage. If your web site is going to be a smaller
site with around a dozen pages or so, and you don't plan
on having any web site applications, then domain hosting,
structure preparation and the layout of your web site's
design usually isn't something that you need to spend a
lot of time considering. These smaller sites you can
pretty much dive into and not have to worry about major
set backs due to forgetting about something you wanted to
have on your web site or something you would like to add
to it later on. In most of these cases, you may be
best off finding a web site template that you can purchase
and then just modify to suit your needs. By using a
web site template, you will save a lot of time coming up
with a design that you find suitable for your web site.

Web site development of a larger and/or more
interactive site can turn into a major head ache as well as
into a financial burden if it isn't planned out thoroughly.
The first thing you need to determine is which host and server
technology would be most suitable for your web site
development needs. I personally host and develop most of my
web sites using Microsoft
technology because I foresee the Internet merging with the
computer operating systems. Since the Microsoft
operating systems, (Windows 98, Windows 2000 and Windows XP)
pretty much run the majority of workplace, public and home
computers, I don't see how Microsoft technology would ever be
phased out or become unusable. Web site development
platforms are highly controversial, this however is my stand
on the matter and the reason for my choosing Microsoft
technology for most of my web site development needs. I
provide affordable Microsoft based technology
domain hosting
and support for as low as $48 per year ($4 per month).
Once you have determined which host
to use, it's time to start preparing the structure of your web
site. I offer a Web Site Structure Planning Kit that can
be purchased by clicking here. This kit is in .pdf
format and will help you to cover all the basics in preparing
the structure of your web site. Please note that if you
require an Internet marketing plan for your web site, it would
be best to have this marketing plan available to you while
preparing your site's structure. You may also want to
structure your web site according to the key phrases that you
wish to capture Internet traffic from.
Internet
marketing is a whole other aspect of developing and
maintaining a successful web
site, click on the above link for Internet marketing details.
Assuming that you have your web
site's structure planned out, now you should want to consider
the layout of your site's design. You may require
several different design layouts depending on the complexity
of your web site. Also, if you are planning on running
multiple web applications, I would highly recommend extensive
beta testing of these applications running together on the
same domain to make sure the code doesn't clash. I've
ran into this before in the middle of a development project
and spent a couple of days tracking down the clashing code and
recoding hundreds of pages so the applications would work
together. When you start developing, it will make the
development process so much easier if you organize your
development files into folders specific to what type of file
it is. For example, store all of your web site's images
into your a folder named "images" and so on. It is also
very important to take extensive notes on your web site
development actions.
If the web site development process sounds a little too
complicated for you and if it's within your budget, our web site
development rate is as low as $24 per hour.
